Chapter 10 - Verse 26
अश्वत्थ: सर्ववृक्षाणां देवर्षीणां च नारद: |
गन्धर्वाणां चित्ररथ: सिद्धानां कपिलो मुनि: || 26||

Translation

I am Ashwattha (Banyan), among all trees. I am Narada among all
divine sages. I am Chitraratha among Gandharvas, the heavenly musicians.
I am the sage Kapila among all Siddha sages.

Unfiltered First Take

An entrepreneur should be flexible enough to adapt to the changing world, but should clearly know the real goal of his vision. If adopting new approaches helps him move closer to that goal, he should be open to them. He should pursue excellence at every level of the organization. He should display constant energy, continuously work towards the goal, and also provide the right atmosphere for people who want to achieve excellence in their work.

Like Narad, an entrepreneur should be able to move across all verticals and levels and communicate effectively with everyone. He should understand their real time issues and requirements. He should be the strongest believer in entrepreneurship and in his own goals. He should speak about his product or service to everyone he meets without shame or hesitation, and should always be equipped to do so. He should ask the right questions at the right time to get the right things done by the team.

Like Chitrath, he should seek excellence in his work. He should uplift fellow team members by providing the right tools, techniques, and opportunities. He should believe that every task is important and that doing every piece of work with dedication is essential to move forward on the path of success. He should enjoy the process wholeheartedly and make the journey memorable.

Like Kapil, an entrepreneur should not fall for show offs or external validation. He should know that achieving the goal he has envisioned is the best possible position he can attain in this lifetime. Like Kapil, he should keep his vision at the back of his mind at all times, detach himself from results, focus on the duties that need to be performed to achieve the goal, and maintain a sane mental state by constantly reminding himself of the goal while staying away from distractions and negative thoughts.

UdyamGita Interpretation

Krishna points to exemplars of rooted flexibility and inner excellence—the Peepal tree that adapts and sustains life, Narad who moves freely across realms spreading wisdom, Chitrarath who represents refined excellence, and Kapil who stands for deep inner realization untouched by display.

The verse subtly unites four qualities: adaptability, connectivity, excellence, and detachment—all essential for enduring leadership.

Business Insight

Entrepreneurship demands flexibility without dilution of purpose.

Like the Peepal tree, entrepreneurs must adapt to changing environments—markets, technologies, customer behaviors—while remaining anchored to the core vision. Adopting new methods, tools, or models is not compromise; it is strategic evolution in service of the goal.

Entrepreneurs must relentlessly pursue excellence at every level of the organization. This requires sustained energy, consistency of effort, and an environment where people who seek mastery feel supported. Excellence is not accidental; it is cultivated daily through standards and intent.

Enjoying the process matters. When founders value how work is done—not just what is achieved—the journey itself becomes energizing and memorable.

Leadership Lesson

Great founders are connectors, cultivators, and contemplatives—at once.

Like Narad, entrepreneurs must move seamlessly across verticals and levels. They communicate with ease, listen deeply, and understand real-time issues. They believe wholeheartedly in entrepreneurship and in their mission—and speak about their product or service without hesitation or embarrassment. Conviction, when genuine, is contagious.

Like Chitrarath, leaders uplift others by providing the right tools, techniques, and opportunities. They treat every task as meaningful, knowing that dedication in small actions compounds into large success.

Like Kapil, mature entrepreneurs stay immune to showmanship and external validation. The true reward is the realization of the vision itself. By keeping the goal quietly present in the background of the mind, detaching from outcomes, and focusing on duties, leaders preserve mental clarity and resilience. Distractions lose power; purpose remains.
