UdyamGita

Sankhya Yoga

Chapter 2 - Verse 69
या निशा सर्वभूतानां तस्यां जागर्ति संयमी |
यस्यां जाग्रति भूतानि सा निशा पश्यतो मुने: || 69||

Translation

On the issue of spiritual knowledge where everyone is in the dark, a
realized soul is wide awake (and aware) and on worldly issues on which
everyone is wide awake (and fully engaged), the realized soul stays in the
dark.

Unfiltered First Take

The true entrepreneur finds peace and solace in the mess of business functioning. He knows that mess is an indication of progress and that the organization is moving to the next level. The system is working at its best, creating noise. Noise of teams trying to work together, noise of agreements and disagreements, noise of escalations, noise of demand and supply mismatch, noise of revenue, noise of people joining the team, and noise of business expansion. If these are shown to a common person, they may get scared seeing the mess and consider it a negative transformation.

But when things are running smoothly, when everything is cohesive, automatically running, and everyone is in agreement, the entrepreneur becomes tense. He understands that the organization has been stagnant for a long time to attain this silence. The organization has stopped growing and has become comfortable in its safe zone. At this point, the entrepreneur becomes restless and wants to push the organization to the next level. So when the organization is at peace, the entrepreneur is restless.

UdyamGita Interpretation

Krishna presents a paradox of perception.

What the ordinary world considers clarity, comfort, and normalcy appears as ignorance to the wise. And what appears chaotic, unsettling, or uncomfortable to most people becomes the space of awareness and action for the introspective sage.

This verse is about reversed lenses—seeing reality from a higher plane.

Business Insight

A true entrepreneur finds peace and meaning in the mess of business functioning.

For them, chaos is not disorder—it is movement. Noise is not a problem—it is a sign that the system is alive and evolving. The noise of:

  • Teams trying to work together
  • Agreements and disagreements
  • Escalations and conflicts
  • Demand–supply mismatches
  • Revenue pressures
  • People joining
  • Expansion efforts

All of this indicates that the organization is pushing itself to the next level.

To a common observer, this mess looks frightening. It appears as instability or negative transformation. But to an entrepreneur, it signals progress.

Leadership Lesson

Ironically, what makes the entrepreneur uneasy is too much silence.

When everything is smooth, predictable, and automatically running—when everyone agrees, no conflicts arise, and there is complete comfort—the entrepreneur senses stagnation. The organization has stayed in its safe zone for too long.

This silence is when the entrepreneur becomes restless. He feels the urge to disrupt, stretch, and push the organization forward. For him, peace is not absence of noise; it is presence of momentum.

Key Takeaways

  • Chaos often signals growth
  • Noise indicates a living organization
  • What scares others energizes entrepreneurs
  • Too much comfort can mean stagnation
  • Silence may indicate loss of momentum
  • Entrepreneurs thrive in movement, not stillness
  • Growth demands constructive disorder
